Listowell Appiah

Listowell, currently a first-year graduate student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, began his journey in Electrical Engineering back in 2015. He started with a Bachelor’s degree at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Ghana, setting the foundation for his academic and professional pursuits in the field.

Before joining the Contextual Engineering Research Group in Fall 2023, he was a project engineer at Daystar Power, where he assumed a pivotal role in driving the design, planning, and successful implementation of smart and sustainable solar solutions across diverse industries in the West-African sub-region. Prior to that, he contributed to the success of MainOne as the Data Center Facility and BMS Engineer where he ensured the seamless operation of the data center campus. He maintained an impressive record of 100% uptime while overseeing the reliability and availability of critical electrical and mechanical equipment.

Now, as he continues his academic pursuits, he is driven by the vision of gaining a solid understanding of microgrids with a deep awareness of the social, economic, and environmental contexts in which these systems operate. This is engineering with a purpose, and he is eager to continue playing a role in shaping a future where sustainable and inclusive energy solutions uplift both people and places.
