Jason Kandume

Jason Kandume is a Visiting Research Specialist in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, where he works on a variety of research programs providing field and laboratory support. Prior to moving to the USA in 2015, he worked in his home country of Namibia as a Senior Forester in the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry. There, he worked on climate change initiatives, conducted national forestry surveys, and led community-based training on forestry management, among many other scientific and managerial duties. He received his master’s degree in applied Ecology in Norway and is a passionate wildlife photographer.

He is a graduate student working with Dr. Richard Cooke on woodchip bioreactors. He is also working with Dr. Ann Witmer where he is examining a contextual engineering approach to improving household-level processing of Kalahari melon oil, Namibia
